mk: pass KERNEL as environment variable

This is a follow-up fix for "mk/ld.mk: trigger kernel-dependent
ld.lib.so build", which alleviates the need to specify the KERNEL at the
build-system command line. Thanks to Piotr Tworek for reporting.
